The nbn® rollout continues to widen its reach – it’s now available to three million locations across Australia.
According to My Sunshine Coast, the nbn®‘ has expanded its accessibility with the aforementioned three million premises now able to order a broadband service. Of those three million, 645,000 are located in Queensland, which made it the second most ready state in Australia only behind New South Wales.
Peter Ryan, the Chief Network Engineering Officer for nbn® said that this proves that the efforts of nbn® and its partners are finally bearing fruit and declared, “Today more than one in four homes are able to connect to the nbn® network, ”
“By this time next year, that number will be around one in two – meaning half of Australia will be able to order an nbn® service. This demonstrates we are well on our way to connecting eight million homes and businesses by 2020.”
Queensland State Corporate Affairs Manager Kylie Lindsay corroborated with Mr. Ryan’s statement and said the number of premises that can avail an nbn® service grows by the day.
“It’s incredible that as of today, 645,530 homes and businesses in Queensland can now access the nbn® network. Of those, around 242,100, or over a third, are already connected, with many more taking up the opportunity every day. We know that access to fast broadband is helping transform communities, allowing people to access tele-health services, giving people the chance to connect and providing rural, regional and remote schools with the ability to access troves of information for classwork.”

The still expanding 3 million premises of the nbn® footprint utilises a deployment of mixed technology that includes nbn® fibre with its variations of nbn® fibre to the premise (fttp), nbn® fibre to the node (fttn) and the new nbn® Sky Muster ™ satellite internet service, that is geared to provide internet for rural and regional Australia.
