Willaura next in NBN rollout
October 31, 2014 4:15 amWillaura residents and business owners will soon be connected to the National Broadband Network (NBN) as the efforts of the Abbott Government to speed up the rollouts have paid off and resulted in the beginning of fixed wireless construction in their area as well as in Dunkeld.
Internet providers in the premises will be able to offer broadband services that are connected to the NBN within twelve months.
Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan said that since the Coalition Government took office, the rollouts have been happening faster than ever, and trials to test other technologies that would further lower the cost and time it would take to deliver fast broadband to all Australians have started.
NBN Co’s new rollout strategy prioritises suburbs and towns that are currently receiving the worst broadband service. This latest development brings a total of 36 combined fixed wireless operations and construction work in Wannon alone.
Under the former Labour government, Internet retail bills were said to increase by up to $43 per month, but with these new changes to the NBN rollout brought about by the Abbott Government, savings of up to $32 billion may be reached and the network delivered four years sooner.
