The Home of the Future – Television
August 2, 2013 6:39 amOur TV viewing experience has evolved rapidly. Years back, a handful of local channels had to suffice. Then, cable TV arrived – we had access to shows from around the world, and in real time too. With so many TV choices available, we could stay home the entire day and never tire of the things to watch on the ‘tube’.
Since the dawn of the World Wide Web, changes have been happening at lightning speed. Now, our television sets are much like our smart phones — we can simply connect our entertainment center to the internet and stream shows on the big screen, download shows onto our hard drives, and simultaneously interact online with our friends.
What’s the next big development in the evolution of the television? One day in the not too distant future, those of us in metropolitan Australia will be bidding farewell to the antenna perched on our roof. Instead our television services will be delivered to us by the NBN (National Broadband Network) fibre optic cable. Welcome to the future!
