NBN Fibre-to-the-Node Surges Ahead of Fibre-to-the-Premise

The National Broadband Network (nbn^®) recently announced that its Fibre to the Node network has overtaken Fibre to the Premise when it comes to total footprint.

According to Channel News, nbn^® decided to use Fibre-to-the-node technology, as Fibre-to-the-premises is more expensive and difficult to rollout – something the broadband network can’t afford.
The company claimed that in just a span of one year, it has established more than one million FTTN connections ready to provide service.

 “It has taken more than five years to make one million premises serviceable over NBN’s all-fibre architecture and costs the company $4400 per premises. That cost compares to less than $2200 per premises to connect with FttN/B.”  -nbn
