After more than a year of doubt, Greater Bunbury finally received good news of an NBN roll out start date in their area.
This week, NBN Co announced that the roll out expansion will begin 18 months from now and will take around 2 years to complete.
The region’s 30,000 homes and businesses will soon have access to high speed broadband.
Also part of the roll outs will be the inner-city suburbs such as the CBD, College Grove, and Withers, as well as outer-lying towns extending as far as Binningup.
Ray Philip, CEO of the Bunbury Chamber of Commerce and Industries, commented on the roll out and said that it had been a long time coming.
He also said that everyone had been waiting for the NBN to become available in the area, which is why they haven’t seen a lot of movement from investors in the local telecommunications infrastructure. According to him, the situation has put them in a critical stage for business.
Furthermore, he stated that the availability of faster Internet in the city would help attract business to it since prospective operators often enquire about internet speeds first prior to setting up their company.
