Eligible for the NBN but Not Connected: Lack of Information a Hurdle for Households
January 11, 2017 10:35 amThere’s a significant number of people not connected to the National Broadband Network (nbn®) roll out as some Australians are unaware that their area can now connect to the nbn®.
According to a report by the Daily Telegraph, fewer than half the population have connected to the nbn as many citizens still don’t understand the nature of the rollout.
The new research showed that the broadband network is currently available in 3,546,489 areas, yet only 1,570,721 premises are connected to the NBN.
The numbers show that within 18 months of availability, about three-quarters of the people will readily connect to the broadband service and before the compulsory disconnection of their previous service. An iSelect survey showed that 54 per cent of Australians said that they don’t understand how to connect to the NBN.
“That apathy comes from not understanding what it is and not understanding the impact on them.”

In another survey, many Australians are considering pricing a major factor when choosing to connect.
Fortunately, the National Broadband Network has a handful of nbn® broadband plans that Australians can choose from, depending on their needs.
Goes to show that if you ask, you shall receive.
