Activ8me Joins The Outback Car Trek Raising Funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world, providing one third of Australia with emergency and primary healthcare. As a registered charity, the RFDS relies on generous donations to cover their operating costs.

So every year, more than 200 charitable-hearted car enthusiasts dust off their pre-1978 reinforced vehicles and head into the Australian outback on a 5,500km four-wheeled fundraising road trip known as The Outback Car Trek.

2019 marks the 30^th anniversary of this fun-filled cross-country fundraising endeavour. More than $28 million has been raised for the RFDS since the crew set out on their very first trek, and the hope is to raise more than $2 million in 2019.

Anyone with an eye on the cavalcade this year will have noticed a new addition: the Activ8me Service Vehicle, driven by Activ8me staff Rob and Sam.

Rob and Sam accompanied Team RFDS, repairing busted tyres, battered shock absorbers and myriad mechanical malfunctions along the way, doing their best to see Team RFDS across the finish line.

Unfortunately, and despite the best efforts of Activ8me staff and Team RFDS, the team’s beloved car ‘Galaxy’ expelled her last exhausted breath just outside of Mataranka, Northern Territory.

Galaxy’s demise notwithstanding, The Outback Car Trek was a rip-roaring success and everyone here at Activ8me can’t wait to discover the total raised for the RFDS.
