Activ8me presenting at Broadband for the Bush
June 21, 2017 1:34 pmActiv8me are proud to be a bronze level sponsor for this year’s Broadband for the Bush Alliance forum, a 2 day conference held in Freemantle centered around advancements in technology and addressing gaps between internet access for those in rural and remote areas compared to their metro counterparts.
The forum has an overarching theme of ‘Remote, Connected and Savvy’, focusing on how those in remote and rural areas are able to develop and adopt the best practices and help create and comprehend policies aimed at digital inclusion for all.
The event will host a series of panels and addresses, divided into four subcategories:
- Digital inclusion in the bush
- Regional innovation
- Policy and regulation
- Technology in action
Thursday afternoon will see Activ8me Corporate Client Engagement Manager Scott Cogley and Chairman Tony Bundrock take to the stage to discuss second generation wireless connections for remote communities and businesses.
Over the last year Activ8me has worked in partnership with customers to develop and deploy a second-generation of their internal and external satellite WiFi solutions. The two representatives will use the session to outline how a variety of organisations from agriculture and mining to tourist destinations and emergency services utilise this technology to solve remote communication challenges.
Alongside this, Activ8me are Australia’s largest Satellite nbn provider, bringing internet to over 25,000 customers all across the country, with homes ranging from regional to truly remote. With such a large customer base outside of the metro areas, a forum such as Broadband for the Bush is an opportunity for Activ8me to connect with and gain insights to the industry and important topics to those living in affected areas.
Tony Bundrock will also be participating in a system managers workshop, an informal event allowing technical and systems staff to share information about the industry, their frustrations and breakthroughs, and solutions to find better ways of solving issues.
This is the sixth annual Broadband for the Bush forum, bringing together end-users, policy makers and technology providers, allowing direct conversations and access to direct information. It’s hoped this years conference will bring to light consumer concerns and next-steps for the industry and government.
